Frequently Asked
Questions
Do you have to tell my parents what we talk about in session?
This depends on your age and what we talk about. If there are any sort of safety concerns, then I need to share this information with parents and/or other agencies to help support you in the best way possible.
I've never been to any type of counselling, what will it be like?
We will work at a pace that is comfortable for you and will decide what our focus is before starting. The first few sessions are typically spent getting to know each other and building a relationship. There is flexibility as to what sessions can be like. They may be art based, take place outside or talking while out for a walk.
Can a parent/caregiver be present for sessions?
Yes! Parents and caregivers are welcome to join sessions if this helps you feel comfortable as we get to know each other or if there is a specific topic that might be helpful to have them present for.
